Relationship Between Elements of a Circle
Descriptions
- Circle - is the set of all points in a plane that are at a given distance from a given point, the centre
- Radius (r) - is a line segment joining the centre of the circle to any point on the circle itself
- Circular Segment - is a region of a circle which is "cut off" from the rest of the circle by a secant or a chord
- Secante - is an extended chord, a coplanar straight line cutting the circle at two points
- Chord (w) - is a line segment whose endpoints lie on the circle
- Diameter (d) - is a line segment whose endpoints lie on the circle and which passes through the centre
- Sagitta (f) - is the smallest of the two segments of the diameter of a circle determined by a perpendicular chord
