Kinematic Viscosity

Viscosity - is a measure of a fluid resistance to gradual deformation by shear stress or tensile stress.
The relation between Kinematic Viscosity (ν) and Dynamic Viscosity (μ) is given by the equation:
ν = μ / ρ
Where ρ is the mass density of the liquid - m2/s - Square meter per second
- m2/h - Square meter per hour
- cm2/s - Square centimeter per second (1 St)
- mm2/s - Square millimeter per second (1 cSt)
- ft2/s - Square foot per second
- in2/s - Square inch per second
- St - Stokes (1 cm2/s)
- cSt - Centistokes (0.01 St = 1 mm2/s)
Instructions
- Enter the value in one of the fields of the "From" column, corresponding to the unit of measurement you want to convert
- Click the "Convert >>" button or hit the "Enter" key
- See converted values in the fields of the "To" column, for the indicated units of measurement
- To convert cSt (kinematic viscosity unit) to cP (dynamic viscosity unit), in liquids with different densities from 1000 kg/m3, fill in the calculator field with the density value
- If some fields have 0 (zero) as value, with yellow background, it means that the rounding of the results "truncated" the number. In this case increase the maximum number of decimal places defined or uncheck the option to set the maximum number of decimal places
- Very small results may possibly be presented in Scientific Notation (e.g, 5.43e-8, corresponds to 5.43 x 10-8, which is equal to 0.0000000543)
- To change format of the results use the various formatting options in the Configurations Area
- To exclude from the results the units of measurement you do not want to convert, select the corresponding check box(es) in the exclusion column (
) - To transfer a result to one of the temporary memories of WebCalc, select the result to be transferred ("Memo" column), select the memory and the type of operation, and click the "Transfer >>" button
